Landscape & Cityscape
My landscapes and cityscapes are all locations I’ve explored and taken photos of in California. Moving here in 2010, this has truly become home for me and I wanted to express how I honestly see my surroundings and experiences. I incorporate abstract elements with more rendered areas and enjoy playing with texture, creating a dream-like scene that appears to be breathing. For my palette I enjoy mixing muddy colors with flickering temperature changes, and placing bright lights over them to bring life out of the mud. Life for me is all about seeing the beauty through the imperfections, I am not a “straight-laced” painter or person and I love the mess of life we live in. My experiences in California has been a period of major growth through a lot of bumps and struggles which is how nature and humans are and that is exactly the beauty I try to capture.
